Camporee

Our Service Unit put on a camporee. Jill did the planning of the camporee. The camporee had 51 attendees. 36 of them were girls (the others were troop leaders and adult helpers). We had from Daisy (kindergarten) to Juniors (6th grade) for girls who attend. We camped on teh coast.
The girls earned a badge over the course of the weekend.

Date: Friday April 25th 2008
Time: 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Schedule:
4:00 – 6:00.....Check in / Lodge
6:00...............Gather in lodge for introductions (Amy, Jill, Melinda, Vicki) and rules (no screaming, no picking flowers, stay on paths, no wandering off, first aid kit, fires are for adults, etc. recycle as much as we can)
6:15................#7 – Wood Products, Past and Present
6:45...................Paper Making Stations
7:30...................Clean up paper making
8:00...................Campfire and songs and smores
9:30...................Back to sleeping quarters
10:00..................Lights out

Date: Saturday April 26th 2008
Time: 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Schedule:
7:00....................Wake Up and get ready for the day
8:00 – 8:45.............Breakfast / Lodge
8:45 – 9:15.............Clean Up
9:30 – 9:50.............# 1 – Explanation of a Forest / Guest Speaker
9:50 – 10:00 ..........Explain how each station will work
10:00 – 12:00...........Each station will take 25 minutes, with 5 minutes of transition time between each.

# 3 – Identifying Trees / Location: Lodge / Jill
Table with photos, books, leaves, needles, pine cones, etc

# 5 – History of a Tree / Location: Porch at Lodge / Melinda
Next to a stump ?
Rings on trees, ages

# 4 – Decomposition, etc / Location: Porch at Lodge / Vicki
Go out on the trail to complete

# 7 con’t – Craft Project / Location: Lodge / On their own

1:30...................Gather in Lodge
Talk a bit more about recycling.
Explain newspaper fashion show
(need newspaper and masking tape and music)
Explain craft tables – getting ready for birthday party nursing home (placemats, cards, fences)
2:00 – 5:00.............Free Time (crafts, games, make fashion show attire, etc
5:00 – 5:45.............Dinner / Lodge
5:45 – 6:15.............Clean Up
6:15 – 6:45.............Go get ‘dressed’ for fashion show
6:45 – 7:30.............Fashion Show in Lodge
7:30 – 8:00 ............Get bundled up and head down to campfire for songs and smores
8:00....................Campfire and singing (contest) and smores
9:30....................Head back to cabins
10:00...................Lights Out

Date: Sunday April 27th 2008
Time: 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Schedule:
7:00................Wake Up and get ready for the day
8:00 – 8:45.........Breakfast / Lodge
8:45 – 9:15.........Clean Up
9:30................# 1 -What’s in a forest /Quietly hike down to the lake – listening for sounds of the forest
10:00..............Scouts Own – circle and share what they’ve learned / favorite part in one sentence or what they heard on the hike down.
10:30......... Make Gorp (need: raisins, nuts, cheerios, m and m’s)
11:00.........clean sleeping quarters and lodge
11:30......... Pack up and head out.

We saw these prints all over by the lake. I should of put my hand by it to show how large of a print it was compared to my hand. We were trying to guess if they were bear tracks.

What was this camp called? I think I have been there for church camp a few times. I have great memories there! Thanks for looking at my blog.
